July saw the publication, by Anthem Press, of two important volumes about Edward FitzGerald’s Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám FitzGerald’s Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám: Popularity and Neglect (edited by Adrian Poole, Christine van Ruymbeke, William H. Martin and Sandra Mason) is based on a 2009 conference in Cambridge and celebrates the 150th anniversary of the first publication of FitzGerald’s Rubáiyát (1859) and the bicentenary of his birth (1859). Visit from the Australian Central Asian Studies Research Team
Visit of the Australian Central Asian Studies Research Team (Macquarie University) to the Trust 4.07.2011 and presentation of publications. Dr Gunner Mikkelsen worked on the Corpus Fontium Manichaeorum project which was based at the Trust from 2000 to 2005. Dr John Sheldon had been a student of the late Sir Harold Bailey (Sanskrit and Khotanese) 1961-1963. Professor Sam Lieu is a recently appointed Trustee of AIIT and he will begin a Visiting Fellowship at Wolfson College (Camb.). in early 2012. A New Arrival!
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Anna, AIIT’s administrator, has given birth to a beautiful baby boy. Wilfred Arthur Altai Midsummer Eve was born on Monday 20th June at 8.43pm – Midsummer’s Eve of course! New issue of INDIRAN
A new issue of the Ancient India and Iran Trust’s newsletter, INDIRAN, is now available.
